Are You Ready to Adopt a Cat

Some Things to Consider before Adopting a Cat:

  • Properly cared for, a cat can live to 20 years or older.

  • Cats may seem independent but they get lonely and bored when left alone all day and all night.

  • Do you have adequate time and space for a cat?

  • Are you willing and able to make the financial commitment proper care requires, such as high-quality pet food and veterinary care?

Food, litter and routine medical care for one cat will cost approximately $500 per year, excluding flea treatments, illness, pet-sitting and other expenses.

  • Kittens will require several visits to the vet in their first 6 months of life for additional vaccinations and spaying or neutering.

  • If you live in a rental property, do you have permission from your landlord to own a pet?

  • What kind of cat would suit your family and home?
