Adopt a Cat or Kitten

PEOPLE FOR CATS strives to adopt cats and kittens to appropriate, responsible and loving homes. Cats over 6-months-old have been examined by a veterinarian, vaccinated against rabies and distemper, tested for leukemia and the feline aids virus (FIV) and spayed or neutered Kittens have been examined and given age-appropriate vaccines. All cats and kittens have been treated for fleas and intestinal parasites.

How to Adopt

Prospective adopters will speak with one of our Adoption volunteers about what kind of cat or kitten they are looking for and what kind of home life they offer in order to make the best match. After visiting the cats and kittens, if there is a suitable match, the adopter will fill out a questionnaire about themselves and their household and sign an Adoption Agreement. After paying the adoption fee, adopters can take their new cat or kitten home with them. Cats and kittens must leave the shelter in a cat carrier.

Renter's should check with their landlords prior to adopting a cat or kitten.

Cats as Gifts: Our cats are adopted only to the prospective owner who will care for the cat. Gift certificates are available if you would like to give a gift adoption.

Adoption Fees help cover the cost of veterinary care, food, supplies and housing.
